Reviews of "Out Came the Sun" Carnegie Hall premiere

On December 2, 2017, Shuying's new composition, "Out Came the Sun" which was commissioned by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, got its world premiere by Orpheus at Carnegie Hall's Perelman Stage. A following Florida premiere happened after at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach on Dec. 5, 2017.

Hartford Opera Theater's "New in November 8 Festival"

Shuying's mini opera "Who Married Star Husbands" received two performances in November: after a Michigan premiere by the Contemporary Direction's Ensemble and Jennie Judd and David Weigel at the Midwest Composers Symposium in Ann Arbor, the Four Corners Ensemble traveled to Hartford, Connecticut and collaborated with Hartford Opera Theater performing the opera at the "New in November 8" Festival on Nov. 18, 2017.

American Lyric Theater announces new crew
August 2017

Shuying was selected as one of six artists-in-residence in American Lyric Theater's Composer Librettist Development Program. Through 2017-2018 Season, Shuying will work with other artists in residence, as well as CLDP mentors Mark Adamo, Cori Ellison, Lawrence Elderson, Jake Heggie, Mark Campbell, among others to develop a one-act opera to be premiered at the InsightALT: Opera in Eden concert on May 17, 2018 at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
